The Little Museum of Dublin tells the story of Dublin city. Its mission is to promote education in Dublin by developing and conserving a collection that speaks to the Dublin’s character and history.
The Matheson Foundation supports the Little Museum’s Children’s Education Programme, ‘I love Dublin’. This unique programme aims to promote a greater awareness of Dublin’s rich heritage and gives school-children the opportunity to learn about the past and present of Ireland’s capital city. The ‘I love Dublin’ classes include interviews with older Dubliners to help children learn about what it was like to grow up in the city in years gone by. The Matheson Foundation’s support of the Museum’s “I Love Dublin” education programme means that classes are free for all school children to attend. Classes are run twice daily, five days a week throughout the academic year. The class has been availed of by more than 3,500 school children to date.
In 2014, our partnership with the Little Museum of Dublin won the Judges’ Special Recognition Award at the Allianz Business to Arts Awards. These awards recognise businesses, artists and arts organisations that develop creative partnerships.
