Our Smart@Matheson initiative is designed to inspire innovative thinking and the creation of new efficiencies so that we can continue to be a smart workplace and to offer the highest standard of services to our clients. The highlight of the initiative is Smart Week, a week-long series of activities which includes cross-firm project team demonstrations and client lunchtime talks incorporating the latest innovation themes such as Fintech, AI and Blockchain.

CoderDojo

Matheson has announced a new CoderDojo, a volunteer programming club for young people. Our collaboration with CoderDojo is one of a number of initiatives born out of Smart Week and provides young people (aged 7 to 17) with the opportunity to learn how to code, develop programmes, build websites, games and apps, and explore technology. CoderDojo, established in Ireland in 2011 by James Whelton and Bill Liao, is a global network of coding clubs for young people.

Blockchain Hackathon

Matheson will host Ireland’s first ever legal ‘blockchain hackathon’ in November, in partnership with Deloitte, IBM and the Dublin City University Ryan Academy. On 3-4 November, Matheson colleagues, working with clients and business partners, will pool their tech talent to identify ideas and innovations in blockchain that could have a positive impact on the financial services and legal services sector.
