Matheson was the first European law firm to establish an office in Silicon Valley in 1996. Building on a 20 year history in the region, the firm opened its San Francisco office in 2017 to support the growing needs of our clients. We now have three offices in the US, including in New York, and continue to invest in our presence on the ground to ensure that we can service the needs of clients across most major time-zones on a real-time basis.

Mark O’Sullivan is a tax partner and resident counsel in our Palo Alto and San Francisco offices. Mark’s primary focus is advising overseas clients on the tax and legal implications of establishing operations and doing business in and from Ireland. Mark also advises extensively on all aspects of international tax planning, including IP planning, cross-border reorganisations and financing transactions.

Geraldine Carr, a senior associate in Matheson’s Employment, Pensions and Benefits Group, joins Mark O’Sullivan on secondment to Matheson’s San Francisco and Palo Alto offices. Geraldine works with internationally focused US companies doing business in and from Ireland and provides support and assistance to clients within time zone on their Irish HR and employment law matters.
