Welcome to the Autumn/Winter 2023 Edition of the Matheson Horizon Tracker
The Matheson Horizon Tracker documents key Irish and EU legislative and regulatory developments. This Autumn we are looking at 2023 in review and highlighting our best Insights from the year which, in turn, informs our commentary, together with a look forward to 2024.
As with recent Trackers, we have decided to distribute the Tracker towards the end of the domestic legislative session and so our 'as of' date for this Autumn edition is 28 November 2023.
In tandem with our publication of the Horizon Tracker we encourage you to access our external webinar platform, the Matheson Knowledge Hub. Our practice areas, our Professional Support Lawyers Faculty, and our Knowledge Team, collaborate to offer you a range of recorded webinars which are relevant to current developments described in the Tracker. Following a simple registration process you can access webinars and generate CPD Certification automatically.
If you wish to discuss any of these developments further, please contact us through our Professional Support Lawyers Faculty or your usual Matheson advisor.
Explore the Legal and Regulatory Horizon
Matheson's expert teams have produced summaries of the legal and regulatory developments at a domestic and European level that will affect Irish businesses. Explore these key themes and trends by browsing the links below.
Following a period of intensive law-making where we saw the adoption of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation ("SFDR"), SFDR Level 2 requirements, the EU Taxonomy Regulation and the application of the Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products ("PRIIPs") Regulation to UCITS, the focus over the course of 2023 shifted to implementation and future developments.
2023 has seen ongoing change across the Irish commercial litigation landscape and during 2024 the impact of that transformation will continue to be felt.
This year, as we marked the fifth anniversary of the General Data Protection Regulation, it is clear that the pace of legal and regulatory developments in this area is showing no sign of letting up.
In this section we bring together a number of pieces of legislation which are important in relation to the overall regulatory and legislative context in the Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals and Scientific Research sectors.
