Announcement of the Matheson WMB Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2018

The Women Mean Business (WMB) Conference and Awards 2018 took place today at the Shelbourne Hotel, with Andrea Doolan of Atlantia Food Clinical Trials being named the Matheson Female Entrepreneur of the Year.  The theme for this year’s awards was ‘A Different Perspective’ focussing on the benefits of diversity and difference.

Congratulating all those involved, Tara Doyle, partner and head of Asset Management at Matheson and member of the judging panel said

“Matheson is delighted to once again be involved in the Women Mean Business annual awards which acknowledge the great work of so many of Ireland’s female entrepreneurs and business leaders.  I would like to congratulate Andrea  Doolan as CEO and Co-Founder of Atlantia which provides clinical trial expertise for Irish and international companies operating in the food, beverage and supplements sector.  While all of the shortlisted candidates had demonstrated admirable entrepreneurship and business acumen, Andrea’s leadership and business skills in a key growth area for Irish industry in a post-Brexit world particularly impressed. We are privileged to be associated with such an innovative business leader."

The finalists in the Matheson Female Entrepreneur of the Year category were:

  • Andrea Doolan - Co-Founder and CEO, Atlantia Food Clinical Trials
  • Siobhan Lawless - Founder and CEO, The Foods of Athenry
  • Mairead Mackle - Co-Founder and CEO, Homecare Independent Living Ltd
  • Deirdre McGlone - Managing Director, Harvey’s Point Ltd
  • Claire McHugh - Co-Founder and CEO, Axonista
  • Sara Mitchell - Co-Founder, Poulet Bonne Femme
  • Karen Clince - Founder and CEO, Tigers Childcare

The awards ceremony followed a busy conference schedule including addresses from Dr Ciara Kelly, columnist and broadcaster, Sandra Ondraschek-Norris, Senior Director with Catalyst Europe and Sean Gallagher, author and entrepreneur.
