Matheson Welcomes Gender Equality Award for the Law School of Trinity College Dublin

Matheson would like to congratulate all at the Law School of Trinity College Dublin upon receiving the prestigious Athena SWAN Bronze Award, the internationally recognised quality mark for the advancement of gender equality in higher education and research.

Chair of Matheson’s Graduate Talent and Development Committee and Partner, Tara Doyle, said:

“This recognition of the work of the staff and students of the Law School of Trinity College in advancing gender equality is well deserved and timely. Matheson has partnered with the Law School on a number of equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives over the last number of years and, from this collaboration, I have observed first-hand the dedication of the Law School to leadership and progress in these areas.

Both Matheson and TCD believe in championing D&I in the community, and in particular through initiatives to support students who face barriers in participating in third level legal education. With this in mind, Matheson partners with the Law School to award the Matheson Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship every year, which provides significant financial support to recipients, together with access to the firm’s learning and development resources, mentoring and an internship at the firm. We also partner with the Law School to deliver the annual ‘Pathways to Belonging’ Conference, which enables us to work together to harness insights from experts and industry leaders on how businesses and institutions can build inclusive workplaces which drive innovation, attract talent, and support graduates and employees to bring their whole selves to work.”

“The Athena SWAN Award is a well-earned achievement for the Law School of Trinity College, and I would like to congratulate all of the staff and students who worked hard to accomplish it. We believe that the work of the Law School in fostering equality, diversity and inclusion is important to the legal sector and indeed the broader corporate environment. We look forward to continuing the work to date with Trinity, in promoting greater access, equality and diversity in the legal profession in Ireland.”
