Matheson has been awarded "Best Funds Lawyer Europe 2014" at ETF.com’s inaugural European awards.
The awards ceremony, which took place in London on 16 April, was held to recognise the product and service providers to the European exchange traded fund industry.
Philip Lovegrove, partner in the Asset Management and Investment Funds Group at Matheson, said:
“We are delighted to accept the award for Best Funds Lawyer Europe 2014, which reflects Matheson’s expertise and our commitment to the ETF sector, a sector which has shown huge growth over recent years and is an increasingly important feature of the asset management landscape for Ireland. Matheson’s recognition through this award is consistent with our reputation in Europe for excellence in client service, legal and regulatory advice, and industry knowledge.”
Mr Lovegrove also noted:
“It is a particular honour to win this award because of the nature of the selection process, which was designed to engage the insights and opinions of leaders throughout the ETF industry, beginning with an open nomination process involving participants in the ETF industry and two further rounds of expert review.”
Demonstrating the reach of Matheson’s investment fund expertise, the firm has also been awarded “European Law Firm of the Year 2015” by The Hedge Fund Journal and "Best AIFMD Law Firm in Europe 2014" by Wealth & Finance International. Matheson also won Finance Dublin’s 2014 Financial Services (International) Deal of the Year Award for Investment Funds for advising on the first AIFM authorisation in Europe. The Asset Management and Investment Funds Group at Matheson is ranked as the number one funds law practice in Ireland, acting for over 28% of Irish domiciled funds by assets under management.
Mr Lovegrove said:
“With 10 partners and over 60 professionals in total in the Asset Management and Investment Funds Group, we have the scale to develop and maintain comprehensive industry leading expertise with respect to investment funds, advising on all aspects of UCITS and alternative investment funds, including within the ETF space.”
