Sharon Daly, Head of the Commercial Litigation Insurance Group, and April McClements, Partner in the Insurance Disputes Group, have been listed in Intelligent Insurer's Influential Women in Re/Insurance for 2017. The publication, now in its fourth year, profiles Europe's leading females in the re/insurance industry and provides an insight into their experiences and the challenges they have faced in their careers. This is the first year that Irish professional services firms have been listed and Matheson is the only Irish law firm represented in the report.

On joining Matheson, she quickly discovered there were very few specialist insurance lawyers in Ireland and identified an opportunity to progress her career. Sharon is currently co-chair of the International Bar Association Insurance Committee for the 2018-2020 term, and has actively sought to use this committee to bring together leaders in the insurance industry to address their shared global challenges.

On her appearance in this listing, Sharon said: "You have to be extremely focused and determined to make it to the top, and I delighted that my colleague April and I have been recognised in this way".

Joining Matheson in 2005, April quickly found her calling in the firm's dedicated insurance group, enjoying the challenges of tackling complex coverage issues and also the strategic side of disputes. Appointed partner in 20015, April is considered a thought-leader in insurance law and recognises the importance of providing a best in class innovative approach to client service to reflect the constantly changing pace within the insurance industry.
