Paul Glenfield is Matheson’s General Counsel and Head of Risk, and was head of the firm’s Employment, Pensions and Benefits Law Group for more than 16 years.

Paul has extensive experience of advising a wide range of domestic and multinational clients on all areas of employment and equality law, employers' liability and health and safety at work. He advised clients on a broad range of contentious issues, such as discrimination, bullying and harassment, stress at work, wrongful and unfair dismissal and redundancies, both individual and collective and industrial relations. He also advised on the conduct of internal investigations into disciplinary issues. On the non-contentious side, he advised on all employment issues arising in connection with business acquisitions / re-organisations, large scale outsourcings and transfer of undertakings, the negotiation and drafting of service agreements and compliance with regulatory requirements such as fitness and probity.

Paul is a member of the Irish Society for Labour Law, the European Employment Lawyers Association, the Irish Health and Safety Lawyers Association, the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland and the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association.

Paul is a regular conference speaker on employment and health and safety law topics. He has lectured at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies in University College Dublin on Workplace Investigations, Law and Best Practice, on the Chartered Director course run by the Institute of Directors on employment law issues as they impact on director / board responsibilities and has presented seminars dealing with directors and officers personal liability under health and safety legislation.
