Rory is a partner in Matheson’s Technology and Innovation Group. Rory has extensive experience on a broad range of international and domestic technology and business transformation deals.
Rory brings together significant in-house and practical experience in advising on technology and commercial legal issues with industry knowledge and an understanding of emerging and innovative technologies. He is a technology and outsourcing lawyer, with a particular specialism in cloud, digital and business transformation, AI, Robotics, IoT, cybersecurity, system integration and complex technology contracting.
Prior to re-joining Matheson, Rory worked as Senior Legal Counsel in a Fortune Global 500 company. Rory spent over 10 years working, primarily in London, where he advised on a number of complex, high value, fast-paced, innovative, multi-jurisdictional deals. His previous company is a well-respected provider of professional services with leading capabilities in digital, cloud and security, covering more than 40 industries, with offerings in strategy, consulting, creative services, technology and operations. Rory supported industries in health, public services, communications and media telecommunications, financial services, utilities, and products.
Rory is a committee member of the Society of Computers and Law, specifically in the Inclusion and Diversity group. He regularly presents on topics, most recently on Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Advising on a multi-jurisdictional, outsourcing deals (including HR, Procurement, Financial and Accounting)
- Advising on high-value system transformation deals impacting multiple geographies within a heavily regulated sector
- Advising on major, high-value deal for the creation and running of a security operations centre, with system efficiency demands linked to cloud and automation.
- Providing ongoing strategic advice on a range of key C-Suite issues related to technology law, and market intelligence around legal risk items impacting commercial priorities.
