Date: 25/11/2020

We are pleased to announce that Matheson Partner and Chair of Matheson’s Graduate Talent and Development Committee, Tara Doyle, has been elected to the Council of the Law Society of Ireland.

Managing Partner, Michael Jackson, said: “On behalf of the firm, I wish to congratulate Tara on what is a great personal achievement.  Tara will continue the long tradition of Matheson partners contributing to the work of the Law Society of Ireland.  I am confident that the Council and our profession will benefit from Tara’s commitment to the issues on which she campaigned - including diversity and inclusion, wellbeing and the international competitiveness of the Irish legal profession.”

As the Law Society’s governing body, the Council represents the Law Society and its members in the interests of the public and the solicitors’ profession in Ireland generally. It performs functions in relation to education and admission, regulation and discipline, and protection of clients.

Tara Doyle said: “This year’s election took place against a challenging backdrop, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported my campaign.

I have been made to feel extremely welcome by the other members of Council and very much look forward to working with them to serve our profession over the next two years."
