Matheson Wins Diversity and Inclusion Firm of the Year at Irish Law Awards 2021

Matheson is delighted to announce that it has been named Diversity and Inclusion Law Firm of the Year at the Irish Law Awards 2021.  The award honours the law firm that promotes diversity, inclusion, social mobility and equality and which has demonstrated an innovative approach to attracting and hiring talent from diverse backgrounds.

Stuart Kennedy, partner and chair of Matheson's Diversity and Inclusion Committee said; "We are honoured to have received the Diversity and Inclusion Firm of the Year award.  It is a fitting recognition of the work which has been done by our colleagues across the firm, work which has been underscored by the launch this year of our Impactful Business Programme, bringing together our CSR, D&I, Environmental Sustainability and Arts pillars into a single dedicated programme."

"Bringing these pillars and strands into one cohesive programme allows us to enhance our social impact by providing a single vision that can deliver meaningful, sustainable and measurable change across our community of colleagues, clients and society."

Congratulations also to Matheson trainee student, Katie Ward, a third year civil law student from NUI Galway, who was shortlisted in the Law Student of the Year category.

Matheson's Impactful Business Programme (IBP) brings together the firm's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I); Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); Environmental Sustainability and; Arts initiatives into on dedicated programme, underpinned by our pro bono and employee wellbeing programmes.  It empowers collaboration and contribution from members of the firm and today, one in ten of our colleagues are now actively involved in delivering our IBP commitments.

Law Society of Ireland's Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter
Matheson has also underlined its commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion by recently becoming a signatory to the Law Society of Ireland's Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion ("GEDI") Charter.  Signatories to the GEDI Charter commit to treating all individuals and groups of individuals fairly and equally.  Read more here.

Now in their 9th year, the Irish Law Awards aim to identify, honour and publicise outstanding achievements, while also recognising those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the legal profession.  This annual event is designed to recognise excellence in the legal profession in Ireland, commending the achievements of lawyers.
