Matheson Partner Nicola Dunleavy Appointed to the LCIA Court

Matheson is delighted to announce the appointment of partner Nicola Dunleavy as a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (“LCIA”). The appointment was confirmed during the Court and Board meeting at the recent 2019 LCIA European Users' Council Symposium at Tylney Hall. As one of just 35 members, Nicola is currently the only Irish member of the Court.

LCIA Court members, plus representatives of associated institutions, and former Presidents, are selected to provide and maintain a balance of leading practitioners in commercial arbitration, from the major trading areas of the world. The LCIA Court is the final authority for the proper application of the LCIA rules. Its principal functions are appointing tribunals, determining challenges to arbitrators, and controlling costs.

As a partner in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Matheson, Nicola represents the firm’s internationally focused clients doing business in and from Ireland. Nicola also leads the Matheson Arbitration team in managing complex arbitrations, adjudications and expert determinations.

Commenting on her appointment, Nicola said –

I am honoured to have been invited to become a member of the London Court of International Arbitration, to continue the work of this historic and leading international institution for commercial dispute resolution.”

Matheson Managing Partner, Michael Jackson added –

With over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of dispute resolution and regulatory enforcement, Nicola is one of Ireland’s leading litigators. This is a prestigious appointment reflecting the calibre of our people and the strength of our teams at Matheson.

Nicola is Vice President of Arbitration Ireland, a Chartered Tax Advisor and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators
