Matheson celebrated this year's International Women’s Day on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, with a two-part event for employees centered around the theme "Inspiring Inclusion". The event featured an insightful discussion with former JP Morgan Bank Ireland CEO / Senior Country Executive, Carin Bryans, followed by in-person mentoring sessions aimed at empowering female colleagues.
Partner and Head of Matheson's Commercial Real Estate Department, Sally Anne Stone, hosted the "Inspiring Stories" segment, where Carin Bryans shared her career journey, the transformative impact of mentoring on fostering inclusion, and strategies for maximising the benefits of mentorship. Reflecting on the importance of diversity and increasing female representation at leadership levels, Bryans remarked: "Diversity is not just a buzzword; it is a strategic imperative. By actively working to elevate women in leadership roles, we pave the way for more inclusive and innovative workplaces which in turn generates better business results."
Sally Anne Stone highlighted Matheson's enduring commitment to diversity and inclusion through initiatives as part of the firm's Impactful Business Programme, as well as its strategic partnerships with industry associations and targeted learning and development efforts to empower women. She emphasised the firm's She Leads training Pathway and the mentoring platform, Thrive, which are accessible to all colleagues, as essential tools in nurturing talent and fostering a culture of inclusivity.
The event culminated in mentoring sessions held across Matheson's Dublin, Cork, and London offices, where female colleagues came together to engage in meaningful conversations and establish valuable mentor-mentee relationships. The initiative aimed to provide a supportive environment for professional growth, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities, further reinforcing the firm's dedication to empowering women at all levels.
International Women's Day is celebrated annually on 8 March and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
