Kathryn is a partner in the Disputes and Investigations Group in Matheson. Kathryn provides specialist advice in connection with all aspects of litigation with a particular focus on corporate restructuring and insolvency law.
Kathryn has extensive experience in advising financial institutions, creditor groups, receivers, examiners and companies on contentious and non-contentious corporate restructuring and insolvency matters. Kathryn regularly advises clients in relation to the enforcement of security, recovery of debt and enforcement options (including bankruptcy) with significant experience in advising in both High Court and Commercial Court debt recovery and injunction proceedings.

Kathryn’s experience includes advising on:
- high profile examinerships including advising Norwegian Air in connection with its successful restructuring through parallel Irish and Norwegian court processes (recognised in the US under Chapter 15 of the US Bankruptcy Code).
- all Companies Act applications, including high profile solvent corporate restructurings and domestic mergers and take-over schemes of arrangement, recent examples of which include Amgen’s acquisition of Horizon Therapeutics in 2023 and the Smurfit WestRock merger in 2024.
- liquidations including advising the liquidators appointed to Debenhams Retail Ireland Limited and the liquidators appointed to PFS Card Services Ireland Limited, the first electronic money licensed company to be wound up in Ireland.
- numerous mergers, divisions and conversions under the European Union Cross-Border Mobility Regulations.
- financial institutions and private equity firms in relation to the enforcement of security, recovery of debt and enforcement options (including bankruptcy).
- financial institutions and receivers in domestic receiverships.
- all matters arising from invoice discounting agreements, including pursuing guarantors, defending challenges to the bank’s ownership of debts and the collection process.
