Shane is a partner in the Asset Management and Investment Funds Department.
He practices financial services law and advises many of the world’s leading financial institutions, investment banks and asset managers carrying on business through Irish fund vehicles (ICAVs, investment companies, unit trusts, CCFs and ILPs) and Irish domiciled management companies.
Areas of Expertise
Shane has extensive experience advising a wide range of domestic and international clients on the structuring, establishment, marketing and sale of both UCITS and alternative investment funds in Ireland across the full range of investment strategies and asset classes.
Shane has completed secondments with two of the world’s largest asset managers in both Dublin and London.
Shane is a Mindful Business Charter champion within the firm.
Experience and Education
Shane’s experience includes advising on:
- The establishment of UCITS structures across the full range of strategies, including plain vanilla strategies, hedge fund strategies, multi-asset funds, structured UCITS, fixed maturity products, fund of funds and master-feeder structures.
- The establishment and continued servicing of major ETF platforms, including the launch of both passively and actively managed ETFs.
- The structuring and establishment of private funds established as regulated and unregulated structures.
- The implementation of the sustainable finance regulatory framework (including the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and the Taxonomy Regulation) and the establishment of ESG-focused funds.
- Obtaining regulatory approval for non-EU domiciled investment managers to act for Irish funds.
- UCITS domestic and cross-border mergers.
- On-going legal and regulatory requirements for AIFMs and UCITS management companies.
