Matheson recently hosted a ‘Neurodiversity Awareness’ event as part of its ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing in the workplace. The event, delivered by qualified barrister, coach and founder of Braver, Mark Scully, explored what neurodiversity means in practice and why inclusive environments are essential for both individual wellbeing and organisational success.
The session focused on understanding neurodiversity as a natural variation in how people think, learn and communicate, and highlighted the importance of designing workplaces and ways of working that allow people to thrive. Colleagues heard how practical adjustments, flexible thinking and compassionate management can unlock strengths, improve mental health outcomes and support sustained high performance.
Opening the event, Managing Partner, Darren Maher, emphasised that diversity of thought is central to Matheson’s values, recognising the role neurodiverse teams play in driving innovation and strengthening the firm; reinforcing the belief that inclusive teams support stronger judgement and better decision‑making.
Speaking at the event, Mark Scully said: “When organisations focus on understanding individual strengths and needs, everyone benefits, not just neurodivergent colleagues.”
The event forms part of Matheson’s wider Impactful Business Programme initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive culture where people feel supported to bring their authentic selves to work.
