Tara Doyle, Matheson’s Head of Asset Management and Investment Funds and Chair of the Irish Funds Industry Association, has been named Best in Investment Funds at the Euromoney LMG Europe Women in Business Law Awards 2017. Tara wins the award for a consecutive year and is the only Irish lawyer ever to win the award. The award follows Tara’s inclusion in The Hedge Fund Journal’s 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds last month and further reinforces Tara’s strong global reputation in the financial services sector.
Commenting on the win, Tara said: “I am delighted to be recognised by the awards for a second year and to be part of a firm that actively supports diversity of leadership. This is an exciting year for the Irish Funds industry and I look forward to working with the international funds community in a closer capacity than ever before.”
At the preceding conference, Tara and fellow nominee Litigation Partner Karen Reynolds hosted a panel discussion on work-life balance. The discussion centred on how work-life balance should be seen as a workplace issue, rather than a gender issue.
Matheson is the only Irish law firm with a female head of investment funds practice following Tara’s appointment in January of last year. Tara heads the largest investment funds practice in Ireland, and together with her team, act as legal advisers for over 29% of Irish domiciled investment funds by assets under management.
Matheson was shortlisted for six further awards as follows: Sharon Daly for Best in Insurance & Reinsurance; Cara O’Hagan for Best in Real Estate; Michelle Ridge for both Best in Investment Funds and Rising Star: Finance; Karen Reynolds for Rising Star: Litigation; and finally the firm was shortlisted for Best National Firm Mentoring Programme.
