Matheson recently advised global private markets investment manager, Partners Group (UK) Limited (“Partners Group”), on its equity financing of the Greenlink Interconnector (“Greenlink”), a project to construct a 500MW subsea interconnector between Ireland and Great Britain.
Greenlink has been awarded “Project of Common Interest” (PCI) status by the European Commission and has also been granted funding from the EU’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA). Matheson worked closely with Clifford Chance to advise Partners Group on the transaction.
The Matheson team was led by Garret Farrelly, partner and head of the Energy and Infrastructure Group, who was assisted by associate, Owen Collins as well as various specialists from Matheson’s Banking, Planning, Corporate and Property teams. Garret Farrelly commented “We are delighted to have been involved in advising Partners Group on this significant transaction. Greenlink is a key electricity infrastructure project for both Ireland and Great Britain. Our mandate on this deal demonstrates Matheson’s position as a market leader when it comes to legal advice on large energy infrastructure projects.”
