Central Register of Beneficial Ownership - the launch has been postponed temporarily
As noted in our Article on the Central Register of Beneficial Ownership, the European Union (Anti-Money Laundering: Beneficial Ownership of Corporate Entities) Regulations 2019 include provisions on the operation of the central beneficial ownership register (the “Central Register”). The new online portal, through which the relevant filings must be made, was due to open on 22 June 2019 but the Companies Registration Office (the “CRO”), the body responsible for the maintenance of the Central Register, has issued advice that the opening and operation of the Central Register has been temporarily postponed. The CRO has informed the public that further updates will be provided in due course
