Matheson is pleased to announce that Patrick Kerry of University College Cork has been named the recipient of the Tim Scanlon Corporate Law Bursary 2026.

Established in 2022 to honour former Matheson partner and Chairperson, Tim Scanlon, the annual bursary is delivered through Matheson’s Impactful Business Programme and supports undergraduate and postgraduate law students pursuing careers in corporate law.

Patrick was selected following a highly competitive application process, which required applicants to submit an essay on a contemporary corporate law topic.

As the 2026 recipient, Patrick participated in Matheson’s Summer Internship Programme.  He also received a bursary of €5,000 and, in recognition of Tim Scanlon’s passion for the arts, a piece of art by Yoko Akino titled “Sail on Silver Moon”.

Commenting, Shane Hogan, Managing Partner, Matheson, said:

“Congratulations to Patrick on being awarded the Tim Scanlon Corporate Law Bursary. The standard of this year’s applications was extremely high, and Patrick’s submission demonstrated real analytical ability and a strong interest in corporate law. This bursary has particular significance for us at Matheson as it honours our former Chairperson Tim Scanlon and the enormous contribution he made to our firm. Tim believed strongly in Matheson’s commitment to excellence and in our partner-led stewardship of our people to reach their potential.
