Matheson Retains Top Tier IFLR1000 Ranking with Six Lawyers Recognised as Rising Stars

The IFLR1000 Legal Directory has recently published its 31st edition, covering the research period 2020-2021.  Of Matheson, it states that it is "strong across all areas of financial and corporate work, and with an experienced projects team.  Structured finance and securitisation, financial services regulatory, and restructuring and insolvency areas are areas where the firm is especially noted for its expertise".

Matheson is also pleased to announce that six of its lawyers; Catriona Cole (Asset Management); David Jones (Corporate M&A); Sandra Lord (Corporate M&A); Madeline McDonnell (Corporate); Owen Collins (Energy and Infrastructure, Projects) and; Dylan Gannon (Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution) have been ranked as rising stars, joining the Matheson lawyers already ranked for their expertise in the IFLR 1000 Legal Directory.

About our Rising Stars

Catriona Cole is a partner in the Asset Management and Investment Funds Group and has been ranked as a Rising Star Partner for Banking and Finance and Investment Funds.  Catriona practices financial services law and works with many of the world’s leading financial institutions, investment banks, asset management companies and service providers carrying on business in Ireland, or through Irish vehicles.

David Jones is a partner in the Corporate M&A Group and has been newly ranked as a Rising Star Partner for Capital markets:  Equity and M&A.  David advises on a broad range of public and private company transactions, specialising in equity capital markets deals; public company M&A (hostile and recommended offers); group reorganisations and corporate redomiciliations.  He also advises corporate and individual clients on European securities law, Irish and UK Listing Rules and the Irish Takeover Rules, as well as Irish company law.

Sandra Lord is a partner in Matheson’s Corporate Department and has been newly ranked as a Rising Star Partner for M&A.  Sandra advises on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions; shareholders’ agreements; investment agreements and joint ventures; venture capital and private equity transactions; corporate reorganisations and restructurings.  She has represented public and private companies, institutional investors and financial intermediaries engaged in a variety of industries and sectors, including technology, energy and media.

Madeline McDonnell is a partner in the Corporate Department in Matheson, and has been ranked as a Rising Star Partner for M&A.  Madeline specialises in mergers and acquisitions (public takeovers and private M&A); equity capital markets transactions; advisory matters and; securities law.  Madeline has advised on many of the most significant Irish corporate transactions of recent years, involving international and Irish public and private companies across a wide range of industries and sectors.

Owen Collins is a senior associate in the Energy and Infrastructure and Projects group, and has been newly ranked as a Rising Star for Project Development and Project Finance.  Owen provides legal services to the energy sector, with a particular focus on the development, financing, sale and acquisition of energy projects and energy market regulatory advice. 

Dylan Gannon is a senior associate in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, and has been newly ranked as a Rising Star for Restructuring and insolvency.  Dylan has over 10 years’ experience specialising in commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency.  His restructuring and insolvency expertise is advising examiners, liquidators and receivers of companies, as well as acting in corporate transactions and in court applications required for various forms of corporate restructuring.  He has experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, with particular expertise in shareholder disputes and in obtaining and defending interlocutory applications.
